Terry this sporran will be instant gratification whereas a Newsome box pleat (or other pleating option), although equally a must have, will cause you many moths of agonizing jonesdom. If you do not already have a special sporran then perhaps this is the one. i have seen McMurdo's FB sporran and can attest to the impact that it has. Simply beautiful in build and looks.

Let's see, hmmmm. New Bobcat L&M Sporran on one hand, car payment and electric bill on the other, trying to feel which one weighs heavier on the personal importance scale here. Seeking justifications, wondering if I can have this shipped to work and then sneak it into the house, but then how do I hide the credit card charge when the wife pays the bills? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. More coniving to do before I can clear this one for takeoff. But I have always wanted a nice bobcat sporran. Wracked with desire, arrrrggghhh.

That's easy-peasy. Skim some cash if you've got access (volunteer to do a grocery shop and ask the clerk for cash back if you pay by debit or VISA check card). Do this a few times to minimize the effect (your wife will know if she gives you a list for $200 worth of groceries and the bank statement shows a $500 debit at the Piggly-Wiggly) build your fund slowly and then buy one of those one-time prepaid VISA cards.

When you register the card (most do this online) use your work address as the "billing" address and that becomes the default shipping address. Your wife will never know, I guarantee.

How can I be so sure this will work? I did it myself when I shelled out the $800 for my L&M full mask badger. She figured out that I had a new sporran, but she never realized the actual price.

Not so easy-peasy on my side. We already have two debit cards from two different banks, and all statements go to the home address, and all bills are paid by my wife. Not only does she verify each of my credit card paypal transactions just to make sure I actually ordered something and it was not a fraudulent charge, she then asks what I had bought, and I am not a good liar. The only way I can have "free" and unfettered, unsubstantiated money is if I sell something and have the payment go to paypal, from which I can then pay for other things. She even stands over my shoulder, or at least nearby when I am at the blackjack table to see if I am winning or losing----interesting that she is not worked up if I am losing money at the table, but if I win I have to justify what I want to spend the winnings on.
And mine is the wife of the not-kilt-friendly variety, so kilt purchase are frowned upon in general. I could lose a couple hundred at the tables on a bad night and she wouldn't bat an eye, but spend that same couple hudred on something kilt-related and it is as if I was taking food out of my baby's mouth.

    Yikes.

    It's a skill, practice more.

The business that I own is cash based, hence my use of the term "skim" in my earlier post. Cash, untraceable cash, is a wonderful thing for just this kind of situation. Can you take an extra clinic shift occasionally and declare this your fun money?

I know what that's like, mine has expensive hobbies so any purchase that I make is competition for her fun. Even if I manage to work the skim/prepaid VISA angle and get away with it, the next hurdle is to be able to actually wear the stuff.

If you're wondering how I made out with our 2 gigs for our music club I mentioned in the other thread, I was in mufti (jeans and a T), the kilt was restricted to the closet.
