Looking good! I like the color combo. What is the design in the center of the stars? I can't quite make it out

It's just a swirl out of a Celtic triskel.

I'm going to Wal Mart with them wet forming on my arms... Let's see if I can end up on the People of Wal Mart website!

Now that I'm back from my Wal Mart trip, I can address the color scheme- it's all part of a master plan of accessories. I first made a sgain dubh with black sheath and green laces. I then made a matching dirk, sheath being black with red laces. The bracers match the weapons- red, green and black.

I need to touch up the stain now that the leather has stretched. That's my project for tomorrow I suppose!

Without the high-intensity flash, though, I can't see the stain impurities. In normal light, they're not there! I need to look at it under good sunlight.

Sorry for my obvious stupidity, but what are bracers? What function do they serve?

I can understand the matching sgian dubh and dirk, but then got lost with the bracers.

    Help - please.

    Regards

Well, with a nice thick piece of tartan underneath of them, they serve as good armor. I am in a living history group that does a lot of live combat demonstrations and swordsman's competitions. Those are a godsend when you get hit in the forearms.

Thanks for that Nighthawk. I understand now. Just when you think that you have got a handle on this kilt-wearing something new crops up!

    Regards

    Chas
