Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk 2010 Pix

Today, was the 40th Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk. My friend David opens his home to his friends for hospitality before the parade.

It is not hard to find David’s home in Old Towne.

David with Sam, President of Mid-Atlantic Donnachaidh Society

David’s Mum (L) and lady friend Rosalyn (R)

David’s Dad tended the bar. He makes a mean Bloody Mary.

    Beware the Donnachaidhs!

After being fortified by David’s hospitality, I did a walkabout of Old Towne Alexandria before the parade.

Afterwards, I found our Clan spot in the Parade order, prepared the banners and was joined by Kith & Kin.

XMarker Geoff and Michelle Withnell soon joined us.

Wendy with daughter Elyssa & her husband Drew, along with her Mum, Tegwin and Dad, Steve from California.

Donald McCallum put the flesh and blood on this Society for me. Donald is no longer with us but his wife, Lise’, children (Martine, Suzanne and Andrew) and grand children (Gigi, Sean and Natilie) carry on his heritage. His son Andrew is wearing his Dad’s kilt. Donald had acquired it as a gift from the Royal Artillery as his Dad had given his life in Syria for King and Country in WWII. Donald wore this kilt for more than 45 years proudly. Andrew has started the same.

We were also joined by Drs. Neil and Joyce Malcolm, and SVC40bt, John and sons John and Tyler who helped in a big way distributing our 900 candy canes along the parade route to the children.

    Our group photo!

My Cheviot House Argyll top hose were a show stopper yielding many an envious comment. Well done, Dunadd Trading Company!

Santa Claus always pulls up the read in the red fire engine. As he had not mounted up, I checked in to make sure he had my list filled out correctly. He wasn’t so sure I had been a good boy!

    Thumbs up

What a great set of photos Ern!
Looks like a fun event, inspite of the chill.

Is this lad from the recreated 84th RoF Royal Highland Emigrants?

Great pics! Thanks. I would've been in that parade but got the dates mixed up & commited myself to another Christmas parade in North East Maryland. Hopefully I'll get the dates straight next year & will see you in Old Virginia. Here's how I dressed for the 30 degree weather for our parade. It's still wool but just in a different form
