my 1980s kilted wedding!
Sunday was our 22nd anniversary and we were looking through the old photos, and I thought it would be nice to scan and share them.
Here goes!
The arrival of the kilties. l-r Dianna (?), Pipe Major Kevin Blandford, his father Paul Blandford (founder of RP Blandford & Son Scottish Imports), Kevin's mother Madelyn (a fine kiltmaker), Nancy Tune, Don Tune, and yours truly. Sadly Kevin and Madelyn are no long with us.

The ceremony, at St Juliana, Fullerton, California:

Greeting people outside the church...it rained the day before but our wedding day was lovely.

Kevin piping us into the reception:

Our formal photo! My lovely bride Karen and I in the courtyard of the restaurant:

Cutting the cake, yes, with my dirk! Made a mess of it...

Proof positive that the kilt is an ageless classic that never goes out of style. Everything else but the kilt and Prince Charlie look dated but you look great even by today's standards. Congratulations on 22 years and may God bless you to have a lifetime more.

Thanks for taking the time to scan and share. Congrats on your anniversary!
Some members of the rabble are probably having a conniption at the thought of formal wear being worn while the sun is up... I think, however, that this is fairly typical in contemporary North American society. The event dictates the level of formality, not the time of day and many (most?) people around here consider a wedding to be an appropriate time for for formal wear.
I like how there is lots of variation in this shot but there is no question who the groom is! Thanks for providing a demonstration of how one can dress in white tie, without wearing a doublet and jabot

lovely photos.
This isn't a comment on the photos per se, but the one above that the Sacrament determines the dress -- in liturgical churches like mine (Episcopal), the Sacrament of the Mass is sometimes offered every day of the week...you see far more folks in "ordinary clothes" than you do formal rig. I know you're referring to a wedding, but not all weddings have the Mass along with it. The only time I've ever seen formal rig at a non-nupital Mass would be when members of the Knights of Columbus' 4th Degree are present.
Again, this wasn't meant as a "dig" against anyone...just a point of information.

Though i have never been to a Catholic wedding where the Eucharist was not celebrated as well.
And as someone who once participated in the sacraments of the Catholic church daily, as well as the liturgical prayer of the Church, I am well aware that as in your Church daily mass is generally attended by people in ordinary dress, not their 'Sunday Best'.
Again, I think they are wonderful photos of a special occasion and in my opinion the dress is very respectful of the occasion.
You're preaching to the choir, though...I am an "Anglo-Catholic" and a sub-deacon/altar server, and we have the same seven sacraments, sir, including the Sacrament of Marriage. I don't think I would classify formal rig as "Sunday Best"; to me that is a suit & tie, or in Highland rig, daywear.
And if I remember correctly, the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in the RCC may be celebrated outside of the Mass -- but I'm getting too far OT now.
Again, it wasn't meant as dig towards you -- just my observations.
