my Full Dress in the 1980s
I just yesterday found this old photo of my in Full Dress in the mid 1980s.
The tartan is British Columbia.
I just now scanned it and uploaded it.
What a load of stuff to wear! I haven't owned any of that stuff in many years.

Love it Richard!!
What a splendid "uniform." I particularly like the Sgian and Dirk. Do you still have them at least? Is the Dirk a pricey one or is it a cheaper model? It sure looks nice!

Even though the dressed down penguin look has taken over as the "uniform" for higher state of piping, I still prefer the full No.1 dress. Yeah it sucks putting it all on, but it just looks so good! I'd say I'm decked out for 90% of my solo performances! Looking FANTASTIC Richard!
BTW-Are you playing Henderson S&I's ?

That is a very early set of Glens which I played for many years.
Cocus, ivory, and plain silver.
The set had started out life as a full ivory set and half-silvered in India. (An expert said that the silver was obviously Indian. I don't know how one could tell that.)
About that dirk, it was lovely and I wish I still had it. It appeared to be a high-quality Scottish-made dirk, though modern. The mounts are gilt, in a lovely Celtic pattern. The handles were hand-carved wood. Oh I wish I had never sold that dirk. I picked it up from a piper friend on some kind of swap. I can't even remember what I swapped for it!

Wow! That is impressive. You looked almost as good then as you do now! I've always loved the look of a fully dressed piper.

Great photo, Richard! I especially like the Crimean war-esque beard with the feather bonnet!
Cheers,

Absolutely amazing photo! My respect sir. I like the tartan.
I've never noticed before that fully dressed pipers have a rapier.
Is that the rapier?
Thank you for sharing!

You see?! Classic kilt style always remains classy. The kilted may have spent a ton on their clothes but they stay in style FOREVER and so, in the end, are getting off cheap. At least that's what I tell myself...and my wife. ith:
