That's tremendous. I really admire the work Scott does. Love your IOS too, what's the fabric? By the way, how hefty was the sizable kick? Prohibitively hefty or wincing but manageable?

    Thanks John,

The kilt is Harris tweed IoS from Redshank kilts, as for the kick £65 which i could have done without, still made for a tops sporran cheaper than the quotes from Scottish makers.

I considered that for mine but they are both military pattern (all be it unbadged and both obsolete) and I got the impression it was an absolute no-no to wear a military hair sporran, ever (unless you are a piper... apparently.) I was certainly told as much in some rather abrupt posts on here following my light-hearted suggestion of same. After my character was called into question, I kind of dropped the idea.

Thing is, I like hair sporrans, that one particularly RSVP, and I can see how yours definitely DOESN'T fall into that ex-service category, looks decidedly civvy, and clearly shows the difference. I'd wear that anytime in a jiffy. It's smashin'.

    Ouch!!

Mmmmm... maybeeee, if I wore mine anyway but didn't post any pictures on here... then no expert cages would be rattled... Closet Kilting?... Concealing my clandestine Kilting activities from other, wiser Kilties? ... Naaa that's not going to work, and as with any illicit activity, it would only be a matter of time before I was rumbled and exposed.
I'll just leave them in their boxes at the bottom of my wardrobe.

That's the main reason for not going down the ex mod they are just too military, I liked the leather cantle and I did ponder for a long time on wheather to go with a brass or pewter cantle but thought it would be just too much(not that horse hair aint!) for todays kilt police

Mind I do have another in the pipeline that will be more for my solo piping et all that Scott is looking into now so whatch this space

Great looking sporran, Artificer does such fabulous work. I think it looks great with your attire and is a goer for day or evening wear. I wonder if you could put up a photo of the pleats of your IOS kilt.

Btw EB. I have an ex MoD hair sporran (black body, white tassells) that i wear sometimes during the day. I modified mine by taking off the issue cantle and replacing it with a pressed metal one I obtained off your favourite auction site.

Beautiful sporran! in fact the entire outfit is very sharp - nicely coordinated without being match-y. And yes, that tartan is very good looking too. Well done!

That is a great sporran. Looks like I'm gonna have to wear my hair sporran when the Stone Mountain Games get here.
