    doublebreasted jackets- again

The thread a while back on doublebreasted kilt jackets is now locked. But here's something I just ran across, the Alexander Brothers both wearing a type of jacket I can't remember seeing before

Compare it to the jacket worn by PM Evan MacRae c1981

Both end at the waist, the bottom hidden under a belt. Both have contrasting epaulettes.

Has the Alexander Brothers' picture been flopped? The jackets button up in what is usually called the "woman's way".

My father preferred double breasted suits. His jackets had button holes on both sides, allowing it to be buttoned either way. The unused button holes are hidden by the overlay of the jacket.

I used to have a double breasted blazer that could be buttoned either way, but I never could understand why.

My father used to joke that it allowed a "lefty" to button it with ease.

Uh, guys , While typically only one side of the suit has working button holes.
Some suits include a ‘jigger’, an inner button on the left side that helps to keep the suit fastened. That's what the extra buttonhole is for. If your suit has one, use it- it takes some of the stress off the outer buttons.

    Curiouser and curiouser!

I can't quite tell, but is that some sort of Tashe at the back we are seeing under his left arm? Those two white blobs - are they buttons?

    Regards

I have just found this, from their official website:

    http://www.alexanderbrothers.com/link.html

Now that looks like the same jacket to me, but buttoned the other way.

    Regards

It would be nice to see the rear of the jackets. Or, perhaps, an actual scanned picture of the full record cover...
