    "The Blessing Of The Lambs"

Now this ought to be fun!

Last week, I met an interesting woman who it turns out... used to live in the U.K.... now owns a sheep farm... in the middle of the National Park just a few miles north of me... trains border collies for herding... and opens her farm to tourists throughout the year for various events as she teaches land use and eco-friendly farming techniques, and other such "green" activities, for the public.

On April 21st, she's holding "The Blessing Of The Lambs" event to celebrate this year's newborn sheep. In addition to the sheep, she has ducks, chickens, rabbits, a peacock or two, and other critters. Among other activities that day, she'll be doing demonstrations with the dogs, the kids can learn how to comb wool, and the caterers will be serving lamb in the pavilion. ::yummy!::

She invited me over to the farm yesterday to see the place. She gave me the nickle tour, explained what the upcoming event was all about, told me she'll have a bagpiper there for the day, and oh, invited me to come... kilted.

I showed her photos of the kilts I currently have (she recognized the Black Watch immediately... it seems she has one, herself), and she recommended I wear the wool Buchanan (she sells wool from the sheep she raises.) I told her that if the weather cooperates, and remains dry enough, I'd be happy to wear it. But if the animals (and kids) get muddy, I'll likely wear one of the easier-to-clean PV kilts. LOL

So I'm looking forward to breaking in the new Buchanan in a couple weeks, on a day that sounds perfect for it. And I might just have to buy a few mutton chops and a new wool blanket, at the end of a fun and novel day on a sheep farm with a new friend.
