    Kilted for a week.

I have been on leave this past week. Normally I have to wear my uniform, so I don't get to wear a kilt very often, so I decided to spend the entire week in a kilt. The only pants I have worn since Sunday were the swim trunks. Everywhere else I go, I have been in a kilt.

I decided to go with a couple of casual kilts and a casual style, wearing either polo shirts or T-shirts and Birkenstocks. I do have a brown day sporran. This is a picture of me with my father. The kilt was a little bit twisted but I didn't notice it until after the picture was taken.

I must say that it has been an interesting week. I have been all over the place with my kilt. I drove from Kansas to North Carolina to visit my parents. I wore the kilt to restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, an auto parts store, the service section of an automobile dealers, a Walmart, and checking in to various hotels. All of the spoken comments have been positive. I have seen a few disconcerted looks and some stifled chuckles, but nothing worse than that. As for favorite reaction, it would have to be a tossup between the couple at Golden Corral or the guy in Walmart.

At the Golden Corral, I was heading back to my table when an older lady at one of the tables called me over and said, "Sir, you are beautiful". The husband explained that he had wanted to wear a kilt the previous day but his wife didn't feel it was appropriate for the occasion. They didn't say what the occasion was.

In the Walmart, as I was walking to the front to check out I heard someone practically yell, "Now, that's what I like to see!!" He said that he had two kilts himself but he was in a wheelchair, so had trouble putting them on.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Well done. One of our VP's was in our office for two days this past week. She wanted to know why I hadn't worn my kilt. I get a few looks in public too, but the comments are positive.

No, I didn't. I thought about it and if it had been closer I might have taken the time, but it was a very short trip as it was.
