    Completed my first x-kilt

I started my first xkilt on July 4th around noon. Finished it up this evening about 9pm. This was my first major sewing endeavor and I'm extremely pleased with how it came out. And per the forum, here the pictures to show it actually has happened

The material I was working with. I went with a desert camo for my first go.

Marking the layout. I had already trimmed the material to length and was marking in the pleat and apron lines.

As I got everything marked I was rolling the material onto PVC pipes to keep it fairly smooth.

Here is a shot of the pleat edges sewn up. I actually did a few sample pleats on some other material to make sure I had the right idea before I started on the machine. The practice and trials definitely helped out a lot.

    The pleats all formed up.

Break in the kilt work to complete the new beer tap handle that I wanted for my keg.

Another shot of the tap handle that interrupted the kilt project, this time with a beer in sight for size reference.

And after some trouble getting a post on here (not thread related, but user related) here are the rest of the pics:

Laid out so that I can work on the tapering.

Working on the taper of the fell. I didn't get a picture between this point and after I attached the waistband.

A close up of the belt loops I attached.

Completed on my work table. My work table was a couple of card tables in my family room. Gave me just enough space to work without feeling cramped.

And finally the completed Hamish shot. This was my first time strapping it on this evening after completing it.

I definitely learned a lot and have a few ideas of where I can improve what I did and/or how I did certain parts of it. Looking forward to starting my next one, but that will have to wait until after I complete the one's for my two little boys.

I love the Xkilt pattern and I think Alan is a GOD for passing it around freely for everyone to get their feet wet with. Thank you Alan.

I had the time last month to sit with some material for a little bit and pinned up a couple of pleat options for the two little boys. I have some ideas on sizing now, but it is going to be a long process having to recalculate everything. Ambitious, oh yeah. Am I ready for the challenge, hopefully. Do I have the time for it, only if my works doesn't get crazy again and real life doesn't intrude too much.
