William Wallace Day Celebration 2012 Pix

We had a good crowd and good number of XMarkers who came for the Scottish Society of Fredericksburg’s William Wallace Day event a Park Lane Tavern.

Our local Celtic band, AON performed again this year for us. It would be their last performance as their bagpiper Ricardo was leaving for home in Chile. They decided to disband with his departure. He and the band will be sorely missed.

Geoff Withnell enjoys a good laugh with Bill O’Brien

Along with the entertainment we shared information about the William Wallace and the movie Braveheart.

The Scottish Society offered complimentary Haggis appetizers

    We compare hemlines!

The gal on the right is a bagpiper and plays with the Mary Washington Eagle Pipe Band with Ricardo.

This lass performed some impromptu Highland Dancing for us.

Holcombe Thomas and his lovely wife were one of the many XMarkers who traveled far to share the time with us.

Mark Ellis patiently waits for his next beer!

    Ricardo is one funny guy!

And will sorely be missed! All the best, bud!!

A good time was had by all!

Looks like a fun time and it is great to put names to faces with the Rabble picture too. Interestingly, I am not aware of any mention of Sir William Wallace in the Scottish press ,or elsewhere over the last few days.

It seems they celebrate William Wallace Day every year in Clydesdale (Lanark), but maybe it doesn't make the papers:

Perhaps the local "Lanark" paper did, I cannot say, it would be nice if it did..
