October events in Houston

Anyone know of any particular kilted events or gatherings during the month of October in the Houston area...I haven't been home from Afghanistan since Feburary 2nd 2012 and wouldn't mind catching up with some kilted brethren during my leave.

Other than the Texas Renaissance Festival starting October 6th, I don't know of any kilt-centric stuff in October. Maybe a kilt night is in order!
There's a nice Games and Celtic Music fest near Austin on September 22-23.

Thanks Zardoz...I don't leave Kabul until the 30th of September, but a kilt night sounds good...Janie told me the Tilted Kilt on Hwy 6 was closed??? Do you plan on making the ren fest, if so, what day(s) are you going?

This isn't the Houston area proper, but if you didn't mind making the trip to Austin for the day, there's the Austin Celtic Festival on November 3rd and 4th. Then, the following weekend, there's the Salado Highland Games just north of Austin.

I see from their website that the Houston Highland Games Association is having a get together on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 7:00 PM at the Bull and Bear Pub (which seems to be a monthly occurrence since they're in the process of reviving the Houston games for 2013).

Thanks Tobus, but unfortunately, I leave for Afghanistan on the 28th of October and will sadly miss both events.

I forgot about the Bull and Bear meetings, we could 'invade' that. The Blaggards are playing at the Ashford Pub on October 20th, that's always a fun show with plenty of kilts around.

Yes, the kilt closed

. So far I plan to be at renfest opening Saturday Oct.6th, not sure after that at this time
