Well, actually more of a bend.
I decided a while back to take a little different approach on a sgian dubh. Tired of the little beasties slipping around all the time, I thought a bit more surface area in contact with my calf would help. Since the widest area of the package is usually the sheath, I grabbed some antler and a scrap of rosewood and fashioned the equivalent of a guard at the front of the hilt that matches the width of the sheath.
Added bonus—by using the portion of the antler just before it branched off, there is a bit of a curve that hugs the curve of my leg, so the handle doesn't get knocked about.
This thing stays planted, and is quite comfortable to boot.
