Tartan Waistcoat cut on the bias

    Hello gang.
I've just completed my first ever waistcoat, which I've made to go with my Gordon Clan Weathered Kilt. I saw a picture of Alan Cummings in his matching Cumming or Comyn Hunting (Muted Colours) kilt outfit, which I thought looked pretty awesome, so I’d like have an outfit for myself. First step then is the waistcoat. It’s about 3 inches shorter than a normal waistcoat, so unfortunately is a bit too short to wear with normal trousers.

Like Alan’s, I’ve cut mine on the bias, which made things challenging, but I’m really pleased with the end result. I’ve tried to match up everything, even grain lines, the inside facings, and the pocket welts (as best as I can given that they run through fitting darts)

I’ve taken photos of every step so if I can I’ll also post a tutorial.

    That's lovely!

We've discussed bias waistcoats and identified some patterns that don't have front darts to mess up the pocket welts but really, under a jacket who will ever see?
