    new possible kilt pin

I just received this pin from the estate of a recently deceased neighbor. I thought it would make a very nice kilt pin as the stone appears to be an imitation Cairngorm.
I was wondering, because of the design of the pin, if it has any particular association with any military group and/or clan.

Looks like the badge of the Yorkshire Light Infantry to me.

It is VERY similar, Jock, but the badge of the KOYLI lacks a crown (very unusual among British Army Regiments).

I have just spoken to the KOYLI museum. The cap badge ONLY, DID NOT have a crown, everything else, letter headings, shooting medals, regimental engravings, etc DID have a crown. Sweetheart badges(brooch)------which is what I think we are looking at------DID/DOES have a crown.

Should you wish to find out more, send a picture the the KOYLI Regimental Museum. If possible, could the item in the picture have a ruler alongside it to give an idea of scale. Apparently that will help no end and the good people at the museum, Steven (his spelling) in particular, is itching to help.

Thanks everyone for letting me know about my new "kilt pin" I have done as Jock suggested and taken another pic of it including a ruler in the pic and e-mailed it to the KOYLI museum. It is just over 2 inches wide at the widest point. I would say that the metal is brass.
I will let everyone know what the museum tells me when they get back to me.

I do not know, but it would make great-looking kilt pin. Post a pic, if you turn it into one.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
