    My new Wyvern sporran

This is my new sporran from Donnie at Wyvern Leatherworks. I had in mind a nautical theme [I'm a Submarine veteran] without resorting to unit emblems or rank insignia. The "monkey's fist" is a knot we used often during line handling and four of them take the place of tassels. The front panel is blue stingray and the cantle is hand tooled leather. A lot of people say your dress sporran should have a white metal cantle, I disagree. this is going to me my go to sporran for dressier events. In the kilted pic it is shown against the US Navy [Edzel] tartan, one of Rocky's Semi-Trads. I hope you like seeing it as much as I am going to like wearing it.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I like your belt design as well - Haven't seen that before but I've been pondering the mechanics of a kilt belt as I'd like to make myself something different from what I usually see.

Man that stingray goes really well with that kilt!

Why, thank you Geoff. Actually I threw everything on quickly to get the pics while I had someone else here to take them. Give me another 8 or 10 years and I'll probably get it right.

It looks beautifully made - and very cool to have something designed that has meaning for you as well. Congratulations.

You have a very nice sporran there. As someone who likes knot work I like the monkey fists.
What is the thing in the middle?

The white diamond is a naturally occurring mark on the ray skin [I'm told]. The process of bleaching and re-dying the skin removes the mark but most places that sell the skins re-establish the mark so everyone knows it is ray skin. On another note, the pebbling you see in the close up are very hard calcium deposits embedded in the skin, the skin itself is soft but the pebbles are very hard, it makes for an interesting contrast in textures.
