Capital District Scottish Games
Coming up soon are the historic Capital District Scottish Games, held at the Altamont Fair Grounds (near Albany NY) every Labor Day weekend, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1939.
I have dual duties this year. I am chair of the St. Andrews Society of Albany's Games Committee, which means I'll be setting up Friday late morning before the Games open, and seeing that the tent is manned. Additionally I'll be helping staff the Clan Campbell tent through the weekend.

Stop by and visit!
Cheers!

I went to these games a few years ago to compete in the solo piping competitions. I competed in the morning, but the afternoon was a wash-out of rain. I had to leave on Sunday and missed the games preptty much altogether. I need to go back because I have since discovered that my 5 times great-grandfather was in the Second Regiment of the Albany County Militia and lived in Schenectady. He had a tradesman shop within the stockade. I need to get up there and firm up my documentation, and get a few questions answered. If I can conjoin both trips (one to Altamont and the other to Schenectady (and Albany), all the better!

Fascinating story there Steve! Stop by and say hi if and when you have a chance, and best of luck with your genealogical research. This whole kilt thing is very heritage-related for me, and both the wee lass and meself have been into genealogy for a very long time.
Cheers!
