    Kilted Sunday in YVR

We lived here for a few years and take opportunities to return when we can. Vancouver BC is a multicultural, cosmopolitan city so wandering about kilted is not any more unusual than some things you see. Not that there aren't those few glaces. The one lady who stopped in front of me, hands to her face and 'oh gawd I love it' perhaps motivating her husband (assumed) to rush out and get a kilt of his own.
Made for some interesting and interested conversation with the in-laws. Met a fellow with his lady at the restaurant where his quite handsome Stephan/Mathieson weathered caught the admiring attention of our table. His hose and traditional ties complimented the kilt very nicely as did the sporran. Something to aim for myself.
In all, a very good day that solidified knowing I've made a very good choice of garment.

I was wearing a version of the Stephen-Mathieson tartan, SRT #10108
The three versions of the tartan are: L to R weathered brown [box pleat by Matt Newsome],weathered green [knife pleat by Rcoky Roeger], modern [double box pleat by Chrystel Amyot].
    Glad to make your acquaintance.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

    Talking

    Hello, again, Gryphon.
I edited my OP to be correct. I figured the Gordon was not correct (apologies) but the name stuck in my head from part of your describing the tartan.
Have to admit I suspect it would be unusual in Edmonton for two kilts to be in the same restaurant without special occasion. My in-laws tell me in that area of Commercial they expected to see a few more

...and then it became kilted Monday. A few compliments today.. which I find rather interesting. My spouse of many years has done a good job of making sure I reasonably keep up to her in the wardrobe department. I don't look near as hobo as I once did. But I don't recall people on the street or in shops making comment that it looks nice. There is definitely something to this kilt wearing thing.

The 'best' for the day was a group of 8 ladies watching me come up the street. Those looks that you just know they are going to say something. One did in that distinct Scottish voice. In a short while we were trying to figure out if we might well be distantly related, they being all Mac -(and a couple of Mc)- Donalds. Would have never met them at all if not for the kilt.

Sounds as if you had a good time Taskr, but this Aussie is a bit confused, were you in Vancouver city or at the Airport (YVR)?
