No. You don't need it anyway; nobody will ever notice that you don't have one.

As a sailor, you might feel naked without a knife while on the sea. Think of the alternatives like the items sqian "bru" or fake plastic replicas. But Father Bill is right, no one will take heed of a missing blade except when a line needs cutting away.

Going without a knife is like going without a kilt, nekkid.

SWMBO would. She always mentions it if I don't wear mine when formally or semi formally dressed.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Fine; then stick a polished piece of wood down your sock and all the non-Scots will spend the entire cruise asking you "Why".

In that sort of environment, I don't for a moment suppose anyone, other than SWMBO, would think twice about it; although I have been asked what it is and whether it is sharp at small private gatherings. I do have a dummy one for sensitive occasions.

I have been denied admittance to a performance event because I was wearing a sgian dubh. They had apparently been warned to check anyone wearing a kilt. To simplify my life, if I am going anywhere a knife (a plane, a boat) might be questioned, the sgian dubh stays home. Although I would might prefer wearing one, I don't feel inadequately attired without it.

Better safe than sorry, as they say. Go with a sgian bru or without the sgian dhu. Don't disrupt a good time for yourself for no real reason.

Many cruise ships ban weapons of any type, as pointed out it will neither be missed nor needed.
