Waistcoats Direct
I've been searching on-line for a canary yellow waistcoat at a reasonable price. So far haven't found one. However, I did discover a source for some interesting vests:

Much of what they offer will be pooh-poohed by the traditionalists. But on the other hand, nonconformists might find a few things that will work with a kilt.
Those concerned wearing some of these waistcoats might break some rules, consider this old thread:

Yes, I'd wear the canary yellow vest with a kilt. I may be way off base, I believe the Brits have a name specifically for the yellow waistcoat, but for the life of me can't think of it now. Does anyone know?

Maybe something like the yellow here is what you're after?

Yes, Shaun, something like that. I like the moleskin, and think it would add a bit of contrast in texture with the rough wool commonly worn with a kilt. The price is discouraging, that's $178 at today's exchange rate. Freedom Kilts offers very nice waistcoats for much less than that, just not in yellow. That's where I'm coming from. I can see mustard yellow working with mustard hose, it would be a good look. I'd like to find something in a soft canary yellow. One of the things I like about many of the vests at Waiscoats Direct is that they have textures that would contrast well with rough wool, and patterns that would breakup the solid-colored-everything look so common in kilt wearing.

I like those ones with Waistcoats Direct! Very stylish, but against THCD rules, so we'll have to delete this thread, sorry

Two have now mentioned that they do not meet the rules, may I ask how/why?

I, too, think there are some good looking waistcoats on Waistcoats Direct. My concern would be less with the non-existent TCHD kilt cops than with the length of the waistcoats. My waistcoats that I wear with a kilt are a good bit shorter than the ones I wear with trousers. I'm short waisted, so maybe it's less of a concern for others.
Admittedly, I haven't had a chance to spend much time reading the website information, but perhaps this is something that could be factored in when the waistcoat is made.
I'll be curious to see how it turns out. Keep us posted.

On the Waistcoats Direct website, they ask for three measurements: chest, waist and shoulder-to-waist. Maybe that last one could be factored to derive a more kilt appropriate line.

I do think it's worth respecting each style of kilt wearing, so perhaps we shouldn't be pointing at TCHD/THCD. I've not seen a kilt cop yet, and haven't found their academy anywhere online
Was just looking for waistcoat today at a local mall. So many options. No matter the choice: what suits your style and wear it well.
