    EMS Memorial Tartan

    Hi All

The EMS Memorial Tartan is a very restricted tartan and I have permission from the designer to have USA Kilts have a run of it woven. If you are interested in getting a kilt made from this or even just getting some yardage please contact me by Monday August 3rd. I just need 2 more people to do this.

    Thanks

I was a Paramedic for 20 years. I'd be interested but would like to know what it looks like. Any images? Thanks

    EMS Memorial Tartan

This tartan is for anyone who works in the pre-hospital setting, particularly EMT's and Paramedics. The colours used in the design are: black and red to signify 11 September 2001, for all police, fire and EMS personnel working and off that fateful day; white stands for purity and cleanliness; light blue stands for the star of life; yellow stands for the snake and staff in the center of the star of life; light green stands for the earth where life saving duties are put into practice.

Please post a photo of the tartan. Many of us have first responder training and skills and I expect an interest in a kilt showing that connection to our lives.

See here for the details. The statement that While this tartan may be worn by any prehospital provider, three of the primary colours may be considered more symbolic of Prehospital EMS in the United States. is effectively a restriction that is wholly unenforceable and relies on individuals agreeing with the intent.

Mods - suggest that this is moved to The Tartan Place.

ID:	25404This is a different tartan than the Prehospital Tartan. This one was designed after 9/11 by Mark Ragnone

I think we may be talking about 2 different tartans here. From what I could find the EMS Memorial one is this:

I personally am not a fan of the various post 9/11/2001 memorial projects because I think that they inadvertently forget all the line of duty deaths that preceded that infamous day. However that is neither here nor there.

The tartan that is describes as mainly a USA tartan is this one:

I like the history in this one a little better but I am not sure I could wear a tartan of orange and blue. Just a personal taste thing.

Ah, it's recorded under it's full name - Emergency Medical Services Memorial Tartan

My previous observation that the rationale, in this case This tartan is for anyone who works in the pre-hospital setting, particularly EMT's and Paramedics "is effectively a restriction that is wholly unenforceable and relies on individuals agreeing with the intent" is equally relevant. Restricting the production is not the same as the ability to restrict its use.
