So I found out that I am an Ó Sullivan

I am wondering if any of you are as well and if anyone out there has a kilt in this tartan?

My great grandmother Grace Coughlin's mother was Margaret Sullivan.
I found out from my great grandparents Marriage certificate.
I thought I might never find their surnames.

I am going to try and find out more soon
And I am going to try to get a Murphy and Sullivan kilt someday. XD
If only I could afford the expense.

    There's 3 different Tartans for O'Sullivan (Beare) - but it's £300 a pop

It's a similar problem for most Irish family name tartans. Callaghan tartan is similarly expensive. However, solid green and solid saffron are more authentically Irish anyway, going back to the 19th century (which some curmudgeons even view as too recent to count). Of course, green has been the Irish patriotic colour since the rising of 1798, and not everyone wants to embrace that, although I have no problem with it and own a couple of green kilts. I also own a saffron one and some in various national and county tartans representing Ireland or Cork, none of which has much claim to be authentic, but anyone who supplies a swatch can register a tartan.

First, I really like how you used a sine fada over the "O" instead of an apostrophe after it. "O" is an Irish word, complete, but is often mistakenly written as if it's a contraction of something.

In addition to green and orange-brown (saffron is actually a light clear yellow) I've seen "Irish kilts" in blue, purple, claret, black, and other colours.

Does anybody do a thing where, lacking a tartan, they base their outfit (as a whole) on the colours of their family Coat Of Arms?

So a solid-colored/selfcoloured kilt in one of the main colours, perhaps their hose and waistcoat in the other?

    About saffron, this is closer

    than this

Yes, the true saffron colour is a pure yellow and not the tan or orange colour often seen in kilts. The colours on the above picture are not true to the original and should be less bright. Google my name and you should see what I'm talking about (Proinsias Mag Fhionnghaile). A few photos (better quality) can be found on a certain website but I have been told by a moderator of this forum not to mention a commercial entity belonging to me. What that person did not have the dignity to do was to ask me if the said website is mine...it isnt. It belongs to others to whom I give historical advice, free of charge I might add!

Actually Leine Man, it was not a Forum Moderator who contacted you, it was me. As you can see from my signature block and the title under my username I am the owner of this privately owned forum.

Those who choose to advertise on this forum trust that they can advertise on an even playing field with all others. Someone who has chosen not to join our other advertisers and instead sidesteps the process by embedding links within their posts is undermining that trust.

When I contacted you, I extended to you a personal invitation to join with our other advertisers and share all the entitlements that brings.
I also sent you a quote directly from our Advertising Policy just so there would be no misunderstandings.
You made a conscious choice not to respond directly, via reply to the PM, or personally via the email address which is prominently displayed on this forum.

It was not I, but you, who chose not to abide by our published policy and who continued to embed links in your posts.

As an Irish man, you should be wearing the Léine and Brat, not a kilt.
