Question UTKilt wool ... Anyone try them?

    Greetings Rabble.

I purchased a UTKilt Deluxe Cargo kilt in brown last year. It's not bad. Holds up well. Not my favorite color but for a "work" or "yard" kilt it's perfect. Wide pleats that are stitched along the edges tend to curl a bit. The cotton demands an iron while the kilt is still damp and warm from the dryer. For the money, I'm happy with it.

That leads me to my question. Brice offers what he calls traditional kilts in acrylic and 13oz wool. His wool option is about $90 off-the-rack. (A "custom" version for $95 offers greater size and length options. )

I am interested in the 13 oz wool option but I think I'd like to hear from some who have had their hands on and butts in these inexpensive kilts. The pleats look wide (like the cargo) but they look like they shoul drape well. I'm thinking about this as an office kilt. Not looking to pair a PC and brogues with it. Just a good daily office kilt. Think golf shirts or button collars and vest. Perhaps the odd cable knit.

Anyone here had a chance to try these?

For the record, I have a 16 oz tank from Geoffrey Taylor for formal. I have several SWK Economy kilts that I love. They hate being sat in all day though. I also have a decent Acrylic from Atlanta Kilts that is a better office option. It was about the same price but it's kind of hot. I'm kind of looking for something between the acrylikilt and the TANK. I'd love a semitrad but the budget isn't there right now.

Just ordered a UT wool kilt in Scottish National. I'll let you know.

I recently asked the same question. I probably would have ordered one, but I ended up buying what was probably the same kilt at Stone Mountain Highland games for a bit more. It was worth paying a bit more, to me, because I was able to look through the stock on hand and pick the best one. These kilts are all made in Pakistan (I think), and sometimes the belt loops are sewn off center, or they aren't aligned to the sett.

I, too, bought an acrylic from Atlanta Kilts, but I have not been very happy with it. It wrinkles very easily when sitting, and even though it was sold as an 8 yard kilt, the pleats are few and wide. That makes it look more like a 5 yarder, to me. On top of that, they put 3 belt loops on the back, with the "middle" loop several inches off-center from the kilt or the other 2. This is why I prefer to see the off-the-rack kilts before buying.
