In the upper right hand corner of every page - right under the picture of the guys doing the Hamish - is our search feature. If you type in Tartan4less you will find over 30 posts.

This may or may not answer your question but is a good starting point.

A nice ex-hire kilt that I got from them

"Yes",about two years ago I bought a nice 16oz wool 8 yard kilt in the designer tartan granite highlander. It has a nice salvage edge, but no canvas stabilizer in it. It's construction is like a casual kilt, but for the$200.00(delivered)price that I paid for it it was a great deal.

A few months ago my brother bought an 8 yard 16 oz, (maybe it was 13oz.) ex-hire MacGreger modern tartan from them. Cost was 175.00 delivered. He loves it. I saw a few "compromises" in the construction, but I'm a bit more informed than he is.

The two that ex-hires buys from them (that I know of) were great values. Were the 700.00 kilts for 200.00 or less? NO, but they were still great values.....

I was (and am) happy with the experience, and value. I've also bought spats from them as well as a number of other items. I had a nice 5 yard (casual) kilt made by them and its's really nice too.

Yes, I bought a 6 yard heavy weight MacNeil plaid ex-hire from them several weeks ago. I paid about US $100, plus shipping for it. They were very helpful and responded to my email questions. It was in very good condition. I just had to move buckles to make it fit. If they have something you want I would say go for it.

I bought (and am in the process of buying) a Braveheart tartan from them. They informed me the kilt I wanted had holes in it, so they are going to shorten another Braveheart kilt and send it to me. I think that's good service. They could have just sold me the one with the holes in. Very impressed with their service

    Yes, Tartan4less was very responsive.

Heh, that was my experience just this morning. I saw this post, went surfing eBay and pulled the trigger on one of their ex-hire Isle of Skye. Shipping from the UK was pretty reasonable too.

    Well, well, well.

    Caveat Emptor

'Tis not an 8 yard kilt as advertised. I need to get the kilt hemmed, so I measured it to be able to negotiate a price with the tailor. It measures at 172 inches. About 4.8 yards.

I just sent an email that explained that they advertised an 8 yard kilt and it's not even quite a 5 yard kilt. I called him out for being dishonest.

I am not going to return or ask for a refund because frankly it still wasn't a bad deal. But now I know how Tartan4less does business.
