Sporran question
I wore kilts when I was younger and attending games and functions with my father. We are Clan Donald and MacDonald of the Isles depending on paternal or maternal sides.
That was when I was 13. I’m in my 50’s now and getting back into it while introducing my children to their heritage.
I won’t be attending any formal functions anytime soon so I’m asking from a daily wear/casual aspect of kilt wear. Obviously we need sporrans since clutching keys, wallet and cell phone between your butt cheeks is difficult for extended periods of time. I hate online shopping and plan on visiting the vendors at some of the highland games, but in the meantime, would your basic leather, $35 Indian and Pakistani made items suffice? I’d hate to invest large amounts of money on a sporran I only plan on wearing to the first two or three festivals I am attending but I also don’t want to appear to be wearing parts of a Halloween costume during my shopping trips. I’m attaching two that caught my eye and wanted to know your opinions. I tend to favor simple items with few decorations.
Thank you

I'm not one to online shop, prefer to support real store fronts. That put, you may want to look online. My recent, $19.95 purchase. Made in Scotland. Seller tossed in pair of flashes & the sporran belt (made by the seller).

IMO the construction of the one on the left is questionable and the decoration on the other is costume-ish. Even though they'd not be worn often, if the materials and fabrication are not of some quality they won't hold up. I recommend checking with some tof the advertisers here, maybe an ebay search for personal used and f2f vendors

Thank you.
My only issue with waiting until I'm dealing with a F2F vendor is that I'd have to go without a Sporran until I could come F2F and make a selection. I was hoping to find a less expensive but not gaudy one to serve in the mean time.

Brilliant! I wasn't even aware there was such a thread. Thank you.

Thank you.
I'm a full hours drive from an actual store front and needed something to serve while I shopped for a permanent sporran. Too bad your vendor had only one.

The seller is beginning to thin his personal stuff, for a planned move to Tennessee. The sporran just happened to be the first of his excess kit to go. As we've stayed in contact, I'll e-mail him, & ask about any other excess bits & bobs.

What Price Glory offers a fairly decent cheap sporran for $35 plus shipping. It's not perfect but it's really not a bad sporran, in some ways I like it more than the authentic Scottish one I have now.The WPG sporran is nice and roomy and I really like the brass stud closure.

There are some reviews on Xmarks if you do a search, that's why I bought one.
