    My cousin

The wife and I are taking my cousin out for a few beers tonight with a ceilidh thrown in as well. She is down from North Yorkshire. I have'nt seen her for several years and she has no idea that I wear a kilt as often as I can. We are meeting at the venue and I will be very interested in her reaction to my kilt. Will let you know the outcome later. Derek

It may be geographically Graham, but like East Yorkshire, it's as far away as Tasmania culturally. I was out hiking yesterday in a kilt (as always) when another said you don't see many of those around here. I replied "Probably just the one!" On another occasion, a passer-by said "I'm usually hiking in your part of the world" - it took a moment or two to realise he had thought I was Scottish, not from just down the road.

    Yes Go for it..

I am the only one in these parts wearing a Kilt, and although I really don't like to be first and getting the attention, I can't wait for someone else to do it. Some people accept it the ones that don't.. Their problem. I am convinced that we will see another man kilted here sooner or later who has seen me and that helps him overcome his inhibitions.

    So .... GET OUT THERE!

    Derek,
She's your cousin. You two share a lot of the same DNA. She'll love you kilted as much as you love being kilted. Walk proud.

You just brought up an interesting subject here.. I wonder. Some family nearest are the ones who like it least. I wonder if those with a little less of our own DNA or blood lines but still within it are more accepting. Probably no connection but an interseting thing to waist our time considering.

Just wondering what parts you are from. I am in Maine, but was raised in Maryland.

The only kilts that I have seen in these parts are are at a Renaissance Faire and a local Irish festival. In fact, there was a guy there wearing a UK. But there are highland game in Maine and NH. So if I ever make it to them, I will see more kilts.

Probably the next person in my neighborhood to wear a kilt will be the Cantor of the church around the corner.

We ran into each other after church had let out and he was wearing a robe that his wife made (reminded me of Neo in "The Matrix". He spotted me and said, "I'm glad I'm not the only one."

We chatted for a bit and he invited me to coffee at the after-church meeting.

His wife is going to repair a Utilikilt his Texan friend sent. Then she's going to use the UK to make a kilt for him.

Maybe I can get his wife to make me one of those bad-a** robes.

Well it is a good way to let your cousin know what you have been up to lately, without even saying a word. If my cousins are any indication, it will be appreciated!
