Kilt and a Trenchcoat
I put on a leather trench coat the other morning before leaving for work, it was cold and raining and this is the only coat I own.
Wasn't until I was walking up to the office that I saw my reflection, long coat (about mid shin) and boots with bare legs between. I thought when I saw it "Flasher", I'll be damned if that wasn't the first thing said to me as I walk in the office.
Though it was warm and dry, I'm not sure its the best look.

lol, this was brought up in another post.
that's what I said, you may look like a flasher.
I have a grey denim outback long coat, but not tryed it with a kilt yet.
I think an Inverness cape is warn just below the kilt and is warn with kilt sox.
you should post a pic.

What an image you must have presented Anthony But if that is all you got, go for it. But what Phil said, long socks might have been a better look and made you all toasty.

Well, as I have never really been one to worry about what others think, I'm more then happy wearing that trench coat with a kilt, besides makes them wonder.

Yeah and at least you got to enjoy the Kilt. I was out this morning in a kilt with no coat at 36 degrees, but it was not raining. So more power to you Anthony. The only place I got cold was my knees.

trench-coats...
Thompson in "So you're going to wear the kilt" does recommend a trench-coat to wear with a kilt if you do not own an Inverness cape -- but I agree, the kilt hose worn properly will prevent "flasher" comments.
The trench-coat has it's origins in the First World War, and was worn with kilts in the trenches.
Cheers,
T.

Grrrrr!!!
The old double standard again. A woman wears a trench coat over a dress or skirt and shows bare leg below the coat no one says a thing.
A guy wears the same look and folks instantly make him a flasher.
The flasher comment to a woman so dressed probably gets sexual harrassment charges and maybe dismissal...with a guy its a joke...go figure...
We got a long way to go yet men...

If it's all you got wear it. I've been looking at some dusters for winter wear since they are readily available here.
