Taking a page

Today I have told a friend that I would assist him in taking his high school class to the museum to learn about the whys and wherefores of the importance of the day (Veteran's Day)

He teaches at a private school here in town, so I am somewhat nervous not about being kilted, but hanging out with a bunch of high school kids.

I certainly hope that they mention the Ladies from Hell. But with me in a kilt that may come to fruition.

As far as the day, the overly charged hormones of many of the students was very evident. Football players staring at me cheerleaders unsure about me my confidence was somewhat low, but knowing that I was OK with everything got me through it.

The guide at the museum was a great WWI expert, telling that this was the war to end all wars even though we as humans have failed in ending wars, it was a very remarkable tour. Without taking sides of the pros or cons of war he talked about the bravery of all people the soldiers and the pacifists that were involved at that time.

When he started to talk about many regiments that fought, he of course mentioned the Ladies From Hell, said he even planned it before we showed up, all eyes and ears were on this man. Silence ruled the group, it was such an awesome experience. He was such a great guide, with the ability to keep everyone attentive to what was said.

After everything was said and done and we were heading back, virtually eveyone said to me that they can understand why I wear a kilt. Answered many questions and was glad that I was able to go with them.

I forgot what it was like to ride a school bus though, my knees may never recover

Good story Glen. Sounds like you handled the trip with your usual flair. Glad you survived the rolling sardine can!

I get this all the time Glen so don't feel bad. Glad the trip was a success, massed formations of teenagers can be very daunting.
