Nope. I used fusible interfacing that I bought at the fabric store. I'm no tailor, nor do I claim to be. I'd like to learn the skills and techniques of tailoring, but for now it's me, my 50-year-old inherited sewing machine, and my patterns.

Just wondering what the simplicity pattern called for, . Sounds like you did a very good job. Your skills are far more advanced than mine, so you should carry on the tradition of corduroy day wear jackets.
However, MacMillan of Rathdown also suggested a black, corduroy argyle, with ribbed silk lapels and cuffs, would make a very good evening wear jacket. You might keep it in mind.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I don't know about that, Ted. I just followed the directions. I like "the tradition of corduroy day wear jackets."

Find the fabrics for me and I'll make it.

Thanks, everybody, for the compliments. I (mostly) enjoyed making this jacket and vest, and I plan to wear it to the Stone Mtn. games in two weeks. The Clan Lockhart's AGM is there, and I hope they like the buttons as much as I do.

Congratualtions on a sterling creation piperdbh. A great colour for a casual ensemble. I like it worn with the ABF tie too.

I was showing your pictures to my wife. Her response, "Now THAT is how you do it." She also thought your hose were amazing.

Looking good, David! I especially like the unique hose. Are you going to wear those at Stone Mountain, as well? I'd like to see them in person, and show them to my wife.
I've been thinking about how a corduroy kilt jacket would work, though in my head I envisioned one in a simpler style without the gauntlet cuffs and plain pocket flaps. To my mind the fabric seems to lend itself to a more casual style. I wonder what the market would be for something like that?

Well done! If anyone else wants to try this I have a jacket of the same material and color available for conversion.
