    Quality coloured ghillie shirts?

    I look on ebay a lot and I see ghillie shirts in a range of tasteful colours, many of which would complement kilts that I have (at the moment my choices are black and cream, safe neutrals)

    I like the slate blues and greens, navy etc but all of them seem to have a very high polyester to cotton ratio..67/ 23..
    Anyone know of any outlets where (without throwing bad money after good, I top out at £25 for a ghillie) the colours are avialable but synthetics ratio is lower or non-existent?

    This lady, http://www.delilahskeepe.com/mensclothingcontinued.html, has made my several items. She offers the shirts in broadcloth and cotton muslin, but can make them in any material you ask, and she's really easy to work with and open and excited by new ideas.

    Re: Quality coloured ghillie shirts?

    I had two of these shirts, both of which retired after many uses. One was black and was high polyester and came from a well known catalog store. It lasted quite a long time, but was never good to wear in the cooler weather. My other was sold a s a colonial shirt and was some sort of muslin. It lasted a long time but slightly less than the other, that came from some company that charges way too much, as I found out when looking to replace it. I think the popularity of these shirts drives the price up.

    They are quite easy to make, perhaps (if Nighthawk's source is busy or too far away) you can find a local seamstress or friend with basic sewing skills?

    Tim P & all:
    Yes, indeed, these are Very Easy to make; for most men its 3 yards of fabrick. I have made a 'flock of them' for myself, and I like Pure Linnen for mine(in summer) wool flannel for winter. If you are a semi-skilled fellow with a thread/needle, let me know, I'll dig up the website for the pattern(which is not to hand just know). Your correct, stay away from the Poly-what-itz fabricks

    That's why I recommend her! Usually you get what you pay for, but this lady seriously undercharges for her work. Here's my doublet from her:

    I made the buttons that she used, and I designed the doublet based on one that a reenactment group in Scotland use in their promo video. I also asked her to use the course cotton cloth that JAS Townsend sells because it looks like wool without insulating like wool.

    Most of mine are homemade, but I highly recommend this local vendor;
