    A nice morning

I wear kilts to work several days a week and since I've been here 5+ years now, the novelty has pretty much worn off for most people. I still get comments, but maybe one or two a week, at most.

This morning, on the way in from the parking lot, no less than FIVE people commented on my kilt, and stopped to have a nice chat. Everybody was appreciative. What a nice way to start the morning.

    Re: A nice morning

Ha! Brooke, it's what you see me in, the second days pics in the "Welsh Rugby Scarf" thread.

Red MacNicol kilt...tartan (but not worsted wool, it's a looser weave than that so the apron hangs a bit funny)...lots of pleats, pleated to stripe.

blue work shirt...light brown t-shirt under that.
Black leather belt, shoes and sporran
charcoal tweed flasxt cap that I wear practically every day in the winter
    White sox with red flashes.

I wear that kilt at least every other week and maybe more often than that during the winter. I live in the hat, seriously. I wear the shirt all the time. I've probably worn *exactly* that combination, except with pushed-down sox and black boots, a dozen times before. So the only "new thing" about that look is that I'm wearing white kilt sox, pulled up with flashes.

Interesting, it is...from a perverted standpoint (you know me!) the day I wear WHITE KILT SOX pulled up with flashes is the day that I get noticed and complimented.

I've said it before and I will say it again, white kilt hose, or off-white kilt hose look sharp.

I suspect that is how people expect a man in a kilt to look, Tartan, high white hose, flashes, sporran etc. They weren't confused by camo, brass dodads, large cargo pockets, combat boots, nose rings... Not judgin' just sayin'

People saw your outfit and had a category in their mind in which to put it "Man in a kilt outfit" God, can you imagine the number of compliments had you been wearing proper hose!!?

Carry on, my work here is done.

HAHAHAHA! OH, heck, I wear colored hose all the time, too, and still don't get 5 compliments on the way in from the parking lot. I think it was just a weird day, and I happened to run into kiltophiles. I had compliments/conversations with 4-5 more people while I was out snapping pictures, too.

I think you're right about this, though.
Tartan kilt + socks to the knees + belt + sporran = "I know what that is".

    Other options = "I'm confused"

camouflage kilt = "I think I'll cross to the other side of the street so I don't have to talk to him." ...
