The readings of Burns are done in Scottish. At one time we had two gentlemen reading Burns together, the first gentleman read in Scottish, the other in Norwegian.

As always great photos of a splendid event but, after seeing images taken there over several years, I have only just realised that there are no ladies present! So who responds to the Toast to the Lassies?!
Take care,
Ham.

A great looking bunch! I spy a MacIntyre in the midst - worn by the Pres, no less. The only ladies I see are wearing less-formal attire, so is this a 'stag' event?

Hamish, The Caledonian Society of Norway is a society for men only. In our society "laws" there is only on the Christmas meeting that the ladies are invited. This society is so "men only" that not even the British Ambassador is invited since there is a woman in office.
As a result of this we do not have a Toast to the Lassies nor a response to that.

At one of the gents-only Burns Suppers I attend (tomorrow night, in fact), we give the Royal Navy toast for Saturday:
Gentlemen: To Our Wives and Sweetharts (may they never meet!)
