I will join the throng applauding your photography. You seem to have similar tastes in scenery and the occasional flower that show up in my travel photos. That makes me wonder if when in the (unfortunately distant) future, I get up the time and resources to travel again, would you be leading tours? Would an x-marks group be a good or bad idea? For the time being again thank you for sharing you excellent pics.

Thanks for all the compliments on the photography. All I can say is that it helps to have a good model, which in this case is the Scottish landscape. Hard to go wrong there. And of course I am not showing you the approximately 1000 other photos I took. :-) So you are just seeing the creme de la creme.

To answer a few questions, I shot all of the photos with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28. As I said, I simply used the auto-intelligent mode for most of these. I'll occasionally play around with the manual settings, but I find in most cases the camera is smarter than I at knowing what to do.

My wife accompanied me on the vacation, but we did leave our kids behind in the care of their grandparents. (It was supposed to be a vacation for us, after all!) Yes, there are plenty of photos of my wife and I. Sadly, none kilted. I did take a kilt with me, just in case the opportunity should arise to wear it, but I have to say it never did. We spent a lot of time out hiking, and I do admit I had some romantic notions of hiking out in my kilt. And if the weather had been nicer I probably would have. But even the "sunny" days we had came with a constant threat of rain off an on, and what you don't see in the photos is the high wind we had to put up with from time to time. Caution being the better side of valour, I wore my hardy blue jeans for most of our outings. Sorry to disappoint!

Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories of my bike trip with Jennifer last June in the Highlands. Scotland is beautiful and seeing your photos brought back the many grand moments I was able to experience with Jennifer. Again thanks for sharing, Ill get back there one day again.

We saw a few, but none that I would consider "in the wild" -- that is, men just out and about wearing their kilt as clothing. Let's see... the man who sold us our tickets at Scone Palace was kilted. Saw two buskers in Edinburgh who were kilted. I saw one man at Edinburgh Castle kilted -- I assumed he was a tour guide, though not one of the castle employees, they all wore tartan trousers. One of the male staff on the West Highland Railway was in a kilt. I think that was about it...

Excellent choice, Leica lens and quality "intelligent" exposure systems. Another compliment to your own intelligence for choosing and using such a fine instrument. Still, remember that the end results are due to the Archer, not the arrow. Good shooting.

Wonderful photos, Matt! Thank you for sharing. I absolutely love seeing other people's photos of bonnie Scotland, and you did a fabulous job of it, mate. I have been to many of the places in which you photographed, and even though the photos certainly don't do the landscapes justice, they come pretty darn close!

I wish I was there now!

Thanks again and I'm pleased to know you and yours had a grand time.

    Best wishes,

Wise choice Matt, I would have (and have in the past whilst 'out and about' in the Highlands) done the same!

    Cheers,
