Please, gentlemen and ladies, lets not spoil an interesting discussion by allowing it to deteriorate into a heated debate about animal rights.

I agree ... I have seen threads where the subject could have easily ended up in heated religious, political, or other debates but I'm not sure we want this place to become a free-for-all debate zone unless the purpose of a thread is for a debate. This thread was specifically asking about non-animal material sporrans though (something which I personally am interested in).

To some people who have some different personal philosophies about Reality (or modern civilization, commerce and industry), the question of non-leather sporrans can be very important and hopefully some useful information will be presented.

    ------------

I don't even have a sporran but I've recently been pondering whether I can make a nice sporran with some various material. I would like to investigate the material though and see if I think it is environmentally neutral enough.

I am someone who made at least part of my living from the fur trade for more than a decade. It has taken all my resolve and a couple of strong drams to restrain myself. However i agree with Pugasso and Cessna. This is not the place for an animal rights debate. I apologize that i got started down that hot trail early in this thread before i realised my mistake and backtracked.
