I need to find more occasions to wear my Armstrong tartan trousers this fall. I've worn them in the past with black barathea jacket and a dark navy blue jacket. I keep intending to pair a tweed jacket with them but have not found the right occasion to thus far.
Reasons. Hmmmm. Well, you get up in the morning and society frowns on your going out in your underpants. So there's reason enough to wear the trousers. Now, let's see. You live in the mountains of North Carolina. And it gets pretty chilly there in the Fall. There's your reason for wearing a tweed jacket. Problem solved.

I really like it. I could take or leave the fringe but lean toward no fringe. Great style. I agree with others here. It's the "Highland Plan For The Englishman." Lol. :-D

I couldn't find the tartan trousers in their online catalog, but I did find women's trousers in the same tartan (Hunting Stewart, which they call "Green/Yellow/Red") and the price is $1098. So I cannot imagine the men's version being much cheaper!
Since the distinctive feature of these seems to be the fringe, which people don't seem to like too much, may I suggest a pair of made-to-measure tartan trousers from the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop instead?

You'll only spend $210, they are made in Scotland, and you can have Hunting Stewart, or any one of hundred plus other tartans you want!

Yikes, Matt! I would rather spend my money on a nice set of trews anyway like you recommended.

I concur. I can't see myself shelling out even half of that for a pair of trousers...
Would rather spend the $200~ on trews...

I dunno, I think the fringe is rather interesting. Its something different, makes a bit o' a statement. Plenty of trousers around without fringe. This makes it distinctive with that harkening back to the traditional kilt. It definitely adds an interest element to what otherwise would just be another pair of tartan pants.

I think the fringe is dreadful! Just when I think I've seen it all, along comes some silly fashion designer with this concept. Sheesh!

I'd wear it, with or without the fringe. I just wouldn't buy it .
