I used to get involved in all the heated debates here. I don't now. When some members brought my character into question because of the colour of kilt I choose to wear or the nature of the responses I offered in such debates, I realised that none of it really matters and consequently stopped getting involved.
For the same reason, I don't post my kilted adventures on here anymore and haven't done for the best part of a year. I decided that wearing my kilts was more important to me than talking about them and rather than log on with the feeling I should ramming my kilts down people's throats (complete with buckles), I'd rather just not antagonise anybody, much less threaten or besmirch them.
I just carry on doing what I do without so much fanfare. It makes for a quieter and less heated life and everybody at X-Marks is happy. Including me funnily enough.

My wife and I have been through your website several times and have a budget laid out for a kilt to be ordered from you hopefully this September. Until then, my HoS kilts will suit my needs just fine. I dont worry about them falling apart or getting ruined because to me, they're just like a pair of Old Navy jeans.
I'm against tailored kilts for mucking around because in my mind I think, "Someone spent time making this and putting effort into it to make and here I am picking up dog poo and changing spark plugs on my car in it." It makes me feel like I've betrayed the craft. In the same way I wouldn't wear a sweater that my grandma made while I'm out hiking through the bush. It's a disrespect to the maker to not treat something like that with care. HoS kilts on the other hand, I could care less what happens to them while in them. They're not made with care and I dont feel bad treating them carelessly.
I have 20+ kilts and made from PV, (both from Marton Mills and the HoS variety) and from wool - 5 yd, 4 yd box pleat and , 8 yarders,. I wear them at times that are appropriate, but for example if cooking on the bbq, or changing a tire on my bicycle, regardless of the kilt I am wearing, I'll put on an apron.
