Robertson Hunting Ancient kilt on the way!
Well, it's a done deal. New kilt ordered. Robertson Hunting Ancient, Lochcarron Strome, 8 yard, hand sewn, pleated to the red stripe (thanks for the advice on that one), triple fringe, fancy kilt lining (!). Should be ready in about 5 or so weeks.
Even though I wanted hunting ancient, there were still choices to be made; Lochcarron, Marton Mills or House of Edgar (the waistcoat is their muted medium weight).
All lovely, but Lochcarron Strome was the one for me:

I'll keep you updated. . .
Steve.

Steve,
It should look great. Who is making it?
Hector Russell made mine, from Marton's JR123, which I think I recognise as the smallest piece in your photo with the slightly more definite or vibrant colouring. Mine is made to the sett, and grand it is too. Just ask My Good Lady how it swishes!

I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas. Driving the missus mad!
Yes that is Marton Mills cloth. That and the HoE are almost identical. I might have been tempted by HoE's muted tartan (my waistcoat has been admired for many years - Hector Russell made that) had they made a heavyweight version.
Paul Henry has agreed to do the honours for me.

I have not logged on using anything other than my iPad, and have not yet cracked the codes needed to get photos up. I am going to take the dear little device to an Apple store when I get back to Australia next week, and workshop it with one of the blue T-shirted gurus. Oh, and I didn't bring that kilt with me to N America.

Tartan now with kiltmaker. After a brief flirtation with the idea of pleating to the blue block, so getting a white stripe every other pleat, I'm back on track:

Just got to wait now.
