He tends to be a bit wordy but you get used to it

I find the wordiness to be part of the draw for me. Lovecraft violates at least one my rules for writing in every sentence. The sentences are twisted and indirect. But that style works perfectly for the subject matter.

I like HP's protege, Robert Howard and a pulp guy: Lester Dent. I've read most of the Lovecraft canon. It's good for those evenings where you need a grounding after a busy week. I started reading the Eddas when I was 10, so Lovecraft was more of a modern update from the tales of Wodan.
