I agree with Pastordan. It's likely an acrylic fabric. If it were wool, let's say their cost for fabric is $40/yd DW. 2.5 yards would cost $100. That doesn't include labor. A bargain isn't always what it appears to be.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this. Just know what you are paying for.

Thanks pastordan and mikilt for the advise. I greatly appreciate it. I'm new to the kilt wearing world as I have said before and its so good to have someone watch your back. Furthermore, I feel I must say I didn't catch that this is a USAkilt thread…sorry about that. I didn't realize my mindless rambling was on an Xmarks partner's thread.

KC: I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. I doubt Rocky is meeting with his lawyers, ... yet.

You're getting good advice from pastordan and Mikilt. The only thing I'll add is that you might want to give the Casual Kilt from USA Kilts a good look. I own one. They are great-looking kilts and easy to care for. They are made from PV (Poly Viscose) - a fine material, and cost $99.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

KentuckyCeltophile, as someone which frequents that store every time I'm in Gatlinburg (which is a few times a year, at least) and have, therefore, had hands on experience with said kilt...I also suggest staying away from it. And, as others have mentioned, USA Kilts Casual comes in at the same price point for a much higher quality product.

One Kyleism. Stick with USAK for a quality product that won't break the bank.

Both of my sons (6 and 8) have Casual Kilt's from USA and we have been very happy with them. They wear them hiking, playing in the woods and to church on a regular basis.
