Church Camp in a Kilt
Yes, you read that correctly. I, in all my 5'6" of my, big-headed Texan wit, donned one of my kilts twice while at church camp.
I have never been so popular in my life.
It was a week camp in Glorieta, NM, and was reasonably enjoyable. Nothing more, nothing less; just enjoyable. On Tuesday evening, for some random reason, people started dressing up; and of course, now I had the incentive to slap on the ol' poly viscous. I'm glad I did -- I was a hit! We had a coffee shop on campus, and I was rather thirsty... One thing led to another, and the next thing you know, I had about forty-five people clapping, and I was going the sword dance. (Or my own "creative" interpretation of such.) This shy, mostly ignored and discarded person had suddenly become an icon. Of course, I gave everyone the pleasure of my stand-up comedy. The next day, as I was strolling about, I had many people ask if I was "that Scottish guy". (When I was kilted, I would use my fake Dundee/Fife accent.) My response was always the same... "(Texan regular voice) Who? Oh, yeah. That guy in the kilt thing. Yeah, I heard about that. (HEAVY Scottish accent) Welllllll, noo, lass. If I seem 'roond ahl be shure tah letcha knoo!"
Priceless memories, and too many stories to list here.

That's fantastic! I've spent a lot of time there at Glorieta on staff. I almost went back out this summer, actually. Your story took me back a bit.
Anyway - sounds like you had a blast. Glad you enjoyed it.

So much history around Glorieta. Let alone the scenery, sounds like an awesome time.
