Here's the jacket with the foreparts completed, ready to add the facings and lining. The front edges are defined by edge taping. The vents are basted in place. The pockets are attached to the canvas, with an additional tape support for the back corners, which is attached to the canvas near the underarms.

I am very impressed Andrew, nice work. I am having a local seamstress make me a bespoke waistcoat that with luck I'll have late next week. It is a wool suiting fabric very close to the pattern of your jacket, and will be a full waistcoat, i.e., no rear lining:

Next time I see her, I am going to inquire as to a matching set, jacket & waistcoat, in a hue that would compliment the blue or green in the Ancient Campbell tartan.

    Cheers!

My thoughts are with Blupiper on this one. I see myself seated in front of my grandmothers White "Foot-pedal" treadle sewing machine basting more fingers together than matching lines. My truest respect for your quest.

I just ordered 5 yards of this pretty blue worsted wool. Sometime in the next few months I hope to have a kilt jacket and waistcoat from it, but someone else will make it! I think it will go well with my Ancient Campbell kilts.

The facings are attached, and the lining is basted into place. I've included a closeup of one of the inner breast pockets. I cut the front linings *just* a little too short, so you can see that they don't flow around the tops of the vents as nicely as I'd like. No one but me will see this, but I still wish I'd had more lining material to play with there.
