To Kilt pin or not to Kilt pin that is the question?

I wear kilt pins purely as an accessory rather than for any utilitarian purpose. I find most of them are far too lightweight to effectively weigh down the top apron against fly away as intended.

A major way off topic but does your husband who is on the light side ever get picked on by the one(s) who are heavier than he? Additionally, have you and your husbands ever considered the possibility of a reality TV show?

But, yes, my life really should be part of some reality TV show, or better yet a Comedic Drama.

Ah Ha!! Thank you non kilt pin wearer's, so I'm not alone, which is comforting to say the least, I think my Kilt speaks for itself without the need of a Kilt pin plus my fear of damaging my beloved Kilt in any way. Kit

As well as the good advice to put the pin in the apron and leave it there, the pin will be less prone to snagging on anything if it is worn higher on the kilt - about finger tip height rather than near the bottom. Of course, not wearing a pin is just fine.

I don't use kilt pins either. Have no reason for it yet.

I always wear a kilt pin, usually an old horse blanket pin that looks like a giant safety pin. I have a couple of other pins, but normally stick with the horse blanket pin. I've never had any trouble with getting it snagged on any thing.

I also have an affinity for pins, and like McMurdo usually plant a pin permanently on each kilt. While I've caught them a few times, no damage done. Wool is rather forgiving.

I'm about a 75% / 25% split, whether I wear a pin, or not.

A couple of my kilts have pins that I keep on them all the time, that especially compliment the particular tartan (such as the enameled "foliage" leaf pins that stay on my "Leaf Peeper"). They just seem most appropriate there. I have a Copper-colored Axe too, that I keep with my Buchanan in "Reproduction" colors. The rest are silver, pewter, or brass pins that I might interchange between the other kilts, as the mood moves me... when I remember to think about it.

And then there are times (the other 25%) when it just never dawns on me to check that the kilt I'll be wearing has a pin on it (or not) before I leave the house. If I happen to notice the oversight, I just shrug my shoulders and go on with whatever I'm doing, never giving it another thought.

When I've worn one, I've yet to ever have a snag problem of any kind. When I don't wear one, neither I nor anyone else gives it the slightest thought or concern.
