Non smokers don't seem to understand that if you go 6 hours with out a "smoke" and then smoke that you DIDN"T fail... you succeeded....... for 6 whole hours!!

Thanks Stan, I know I'll never be a non smoker but an ex smoker, and your totally right the longer I don't light up is a success, and I will build on this idea you have planted in my mind. Kit

I quit for a whole year and then took up the pipe. When my work place went non-smoking, I realized my smoking was more habit than addiction and soon went all work day without smoke. This is why the nicotine patches have only met with marginal success on a lot of aspiring quitters. The best trick I have used is to keep my smoking materials un-handy when I want to cut back. I move it all out onto the porch or in the car. That way I have to get dressed and go outside. I am modifying the old habit to doing it only in certain places rather than replacing it with nothing or, my bain, junk food. ( I put on about 30 pounds of lard during that one year. ) Health wise, obesity will kill faster than smoking. I have asked several doctors on this and the statistics agree.
I found using the clock to time the span between my smokes was just making me crave more as I kept it on my mind.

Thank you for the kind advice, I'll have watch my weight then or buy a whole new wardrobe, did you get that initial weight off or have you still got it? Kit

I got about 90% of it off - it is harder shed as you get older.
