Today, my next kilt up in rotation is my Burnett & Struth casual in McCallum ancient tartan. As this is a tartan of my Clan and one of my Clan Society Convener ensembles I again proudly strapped on my @Madadh crafted sporran with my clan crest on the flap.

I’ve had this morning a kilted encounter to share. In the office our pest service contractor technician come in to approve her work record. I know that she is cool weather loving girl and today is a cold day from the earlier preseason warmer weather we’ve been having. I commented that she must be happy with the return of the cold weather and indeed she is she said. I’m seated at my desk and standing near me she can see that I’m kilted. She gives me her pen to sign the work receipt. I comment her pen is really cold. She retorted stick out that bare leg and I’ll show you what really cold is!

Who kilted up, today?

I did, but I usually do when I go out and about. I mostly wear kilts I've made so people see my product and I can give them a business card if they're interested. It just worked out well that today was Friday.

Casually attired in AB again today, with an open collared shirt and jumper. I hope to encounter a colleague who seems to be waiting to get things to be all dressed up before he wears his into work. I've sent to him the 10 looks link and perhaps my attire today would also assist in seeing that a kilt far more versatile than one might imagine.

Feels like Spring in Colorado, so I went with my Stephenson muted 5 yard casual and day sporran. Bottle green hose and red flashes for the red stripe in the tartan.

Kilted Friday in my U.S. Army tartan kilt (or as I call it, "my kilt"). Pardon the scowling squint, please -- I was looking into the sun dropping over the Olympic Mountains, and there hasn't been enough of that lately to acclimatize my eyes.



My Friday includued meeting with a collaborator and friend over in the Snoqualmie Valley, tabbing chores at the motor vehicle agent, then a happy gambol with Viki, my camel-coated conspirator.

The kilt wool is not immune to fur, drool and friendly nose wipes from Viki, but I'm pleased to find that it seems to brush and wipe up readily.

Definitely need to pick up a brown leather day sporran sooner than later; I'm just not much of a black leather guy, and wearing a fancy formal sporran just to walk around on errands feels about as appropriate as wearing cuff links to work on the truck.

Hose are navy blue from Rocky, with (apparently invisible) flashes in artillery red. My "kilt belt" was filched from a tool pouch and has a lightly stamped basketweave pattern. I darkened it slightly with leather dope, but may polish it darker with brown Kiwi -- these days, "Shinola" means an overpriced Detroit watch with a Japanese movement. Shirt has tiny herringbone pattern and was four bucks at Goodwill. Actually spent most of the day wearing a brown moleskin jacket liner from Filson over the shirt. Pockets, man! We need more POCKETS!



The, er, "moccasin brogues" are buffalo hide penny loafers from Bean, a kindly gift from my MIL. Looking into some more appropriate puddle stompers with laces, and a more finished looking vest.

Several kind comments from strangers and friends today, and only a couple of nervous folks crossing the street to avoid me. Could have been the big dog, I suppose.

When in doubt, blame the dog.

Wore my 8 yd Ross Hunting Muted kilt again today with a grey cashmere v-neck sweater and black polo. The charcoal hose are handknit out of 100% wool and quite warm, which is handy due to the return of winter temps here in the Northeast. It's currently -6deg F as I type this. i'm doing my best "leaning tower of Pisa" impression in this photo...apparently.

Kilted as usual this Friday. In family tartan (Irish roots) with a bit too matchy perhaps in tones and shades of green in hose and jumper, with a dark blue collared shirt. Will be heading off to the pub with family and friends later.

Wearing my Gorgon Ancient Red tie and my newly sewn utility kilt. I am pleasing surprised with the positive feedback from everyone at work.

Still saving up for a traditional box kilt in a Gordon tartan.
