    Accosted for wearing kilt

I was picking up a pizza at Little Caesar's(pizza chain)and as I was going out the door someone that I would describe as a local hick from the adjoining county aggressively asked me "what's with the get up?". I asked him what he meant...and he loudly replied "it's cold as he** out there and you're wearing a kilt". So even though I didn't feel like I owed him an explanation I then loudly told him that I had put on a pair of pants earlier (he said that was a good idea while I was still talking) but they were freezing my legs ,so I went back in and put my kilt on.I quickly explained the kilt is made of 8 yards of wool and heat rises. With that I walked out the door.

I think his intended to harass me regardless of the temperature, and was surprised that I came back just as aggressive as he was .I was going to wear the pants ,but really felt warmer in the kilt.I don't see why I should feel it necessary to meet someone's else's idea of what is appropriate cold weather attire. It was about 17°F.
I probably should have just said it doesn't feel cold to me and laughed.

Edit:Now that I've had a chance to cool off some... it has become obvious to me he was drinking, so while I was mad before, now it seems kind of funny.I'm almost glad it happened so I can come up with good comeback in case of another encounter like that.

People are very aware of other's clothing if it is out of the norm. I watch their eyes as they look down at my kilt. Some look and say nothing, some criticize to degrade. But my favorite are those that compliment my kilt. We must be strong and persevere.

Next time tell him that wearing a kilt makes a person bigger, stronger, tougher...and more handsome!

Your first mistake was going into Little Caesars when Pappa John's has a better pizza.

I edited my post, he was obviously drinking, nobody in their right mind confronts someone who is wearing a kilt like that.

    That's true Jack, but
soon I will have my own pizza place....right after I file my lawsuit against Caesar's over this outrageous incident. I'm going to need counseling and maybe a therapy animal.

Yeah, sometimes people are frightened and angered by anything outside what they consider the norm. If you're feeling froggy, tell them that what you're wearing is better looking, better tailored and more expensive than their outfit--including their car.
