About sporrans, here for $10 is a horsehair sporran, a very nice vintage one, however all the photos show only the back. https://www.ebay.com/itm/39679025920...Bk9SR4Dk3JH2ZQ
You can see the rim of the cantle in some pics.
I guess it'd be worth the gamble, if nothing else to pick up a vintage cantle of some kind.
And I'm not sure it's adult sized.
Given the size of the sporran in relation to the chain, I'm betting it's a child-sized sporran.
I'd also be leery of it since they don't show the front. I'm betting it was stored flat (and disheveled) for a long period of time. Not sure how easy it would be to get that horse hair to hang straight again.
Maybe the seller would send photos of the front to an interested party if they asked... I'd be interested in seeing the front side!

Yeah, I saw the lack of a front pic or hanging and wrote it off. I'm sure that one would take a lot more work than it's worth to save it... and there's no telling if the cantel is worth going for either. No information on age, so I seriously doubt it would be a silver cantel. I personally don't find it worth the 10 spot to gamble.

The original Pipe Band Sporran, a miscegenation from the 1980s, the EW3 cantle stuck on the classic Hunting Sporran (but done up in black).
https://www.ebay.com/itm/16761619477...Bk9SR-b_4Zn3ZQ
Here is its Origin Story, along with those of two others:

Note that all three of these 1980s miscegenations have in common denouement, two lovely traditional styles spawning one ungainly untraditional style.
The style bottom right is the one that started the whole Pipe Band Sporran craze. Countless thousands of copies have been spawned in Sialkot.
There were Pipe Band competitions in the 1990s where all 14 bands in a particular heat would be wearing these.
Under $40 and here in the USA. Made by WE Scott Edinburgh.
I had to hold my hand (like Dr Strangelove) to keep from hitting the Buy It Now button.
Not that I need another sporran! But its historical value (such as it is) appeals to me.

Beautiful older WE Scott hunting sporran back when that maker poured more time and labour into their work. Under £10.

Here's the version I have, made by Nicoll Bros.

Mine has a brass chain-strap in the same body leather, that attaches in the usual way - although I think I prefer the more sophisticated method of the eBay auction version with its dedicated strap.

Newer WE Scott EW2 seal Evening sporran £35
https://www.ebay.com/itm/38867271603...Bk9SR5qH88v7ZQ
Note the crisp detail in the cantle. So many cantles we see nowadays are Pakistani re-casts it's nice to get reminded what they're supposed to look like.
Newer WE Scott "hunting" sporran, here the original kind (no cantle) but in black £25

Oh well, you snooze you lose. At least I don't have to feel bad about "settling" for black.

The ginger one with the nice broguing/pinking is just shy of $200, in truth still a bargain, less than half of what one would be today if you could get one made like that.
I wonder how high they'll go.

I'm with you there.
A few years ago I was selling a sporran just like that but in the ginger/rust leather.
A band-mate bought it from me.
At next rehearsal he informed me that he had painted it black.
