Well I'm sorta back.
What ever I had just sorta went away. I have been working on two more sgian dubh. Got the blades made and got them heat treated. Don't know when I will get them done I can't work more than about an hour and a half and I start to feel bad. I have to keep pushing myself, can't just sit listening to pipe music all day. Sure wish I could still play, but that's out. Nothing works right any more but that's to be expected at my age and with all the health problems I've had. Like they say getting old is not for sissies. Wore my kilt to church and caused a stir. It seems the pastor has one of them modern (kilts) one of the other preachers went and got him and brought him over to where I was sitting pointed at me and said to him, now that's a kilt. Made me feel sorry for him.

thanks for the update
I know my time span I can spend working is pretty down from even 5 years ago. I'm just happy I can still do everything I have always done. I moved to a 55+ mobile home community and the kilt wearing gets alot more stares than it use to. Some people knocked on my door the other day from a local church and since I was just working in my underwear I grabbed my sports kilt since it's easier to just velco it than my others and opened the door. The woman wasn't the least bit fazed by a shirtless man in a kilt but the guy looked shocked and kept walking away a few feet but then the woman was just talking and he'd come back and look at me and walk away again. Kind of felt sorry for him.

I'm glad to hear you're recovering! Being stuck in bed with health issues is demoralizing.

still trying
I'm still trying to finish those two sgianan duhb. Seems like when I try to work on them I don't get anything done. I just keep at it though. I have to be really careful now as my balance is non existent I have fallen twice in the yard. The first time was bad gouged my calf on tree stump and my foot was stuck in some brush took me ten minutes to get up. Yesterday I fell once and five minutes later I almost went down again but managed to grab hold of a tree limb. Didn't dare tell my wife she gets rather upset when I go out. If I ever get these two sginan done I will try to get the young lad across the street to put pictures on here. Ha! she has gone to the store so I am going to my workshop.

Be very careful!
Falling is a very bad thing.... on my 69th birthday, I went to visit my mom (97) in assisted living facility. On my way down the hall, my right foot sole scuffed the carpet. I stumbled and grabbed the handrail but kept going forward. Finally went down and landed on my replaced hip... multiple fractures the femur around the lower stem of the titanium hip joint. Now I have a longer lower piece and three straps around the bone that look like tie-wraps...
Third time this hip has had surgery. 2 months of physical therapy, still use a walking stick for balance.
A few weeks after the surgery, I started remaking a kilt that was too large, then made my first new kilt. Kept me busy! Finally getting to the point 4 months later tgat I am becoming more comfortable doing things in my workshop again. Kitchen cabinets for my son's geodesic dome house. (So many angles!)
