Dee, I do have 2 daughters, but too young, 4.5 and 2.5, for what they wear to be a problem yet. They wear whatever my wife or I put on them in the morning, but I do think about the issue when I see other's kids when I am out and about and a 12 year old is wearing revealing clothing. There is a fine balance in allowing kids the freedom to express themselves in their clothing while still insuring that they are presenting themselves as respectable and sure of themselves. And I do agree with you about Nathan probably getting way more attention than most teens would want, although he has shown his strength of character by even trying to wear his kilt to the dance. I am just hoping that he is made aware of all the positive support people have for him and doesn't just get the negative.
Boy, that handle does go back a ways! I thought the first part might refer to Starbuck, but of coffee fame, not Battlestar Galactica. Did not think anybody remembered that show. I used to love watching it. The guy who played him was also the guy who played Faceman in the A-Team if I remember correctly.
Later!
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

You're speaking of Dirk Benedict, of course. That is one of the best names an actor could ever use. I wonder if it's his real name...

So has anyone looked up what tartan this Principal McClard would be wearing if he were wearing a kilt? Might be nice to let him know what his options would be...never know, he might be so moved that he'd order a kilt for himself and wear it to the prom...now that would show a good spirit!
best

Emails to the Principal are nice but to truely make them effective we should also copy his superiors to include the mayor and or governor. When the proverbial ***** begins to succumb to gravity on an incline that's when things start changing.

School board would be more effective. I have met our governor, and quite frankly, I don't think he'd give a fig about it, one way or the other. ;)

There are Maclardie and Maclardy septs to the MacDonalds; the MacLeods are similarly represented. Then again, the folks at Ellis Island may just have misheard the name "MacLaren" when they recorded his ancestors' arrival in the New World. Take your pick-they're all as likely without knowing his family's history, guys.
Bryan...but if I was selling kilts to him I'd start with Clan Donald... :-)

There is also the possibility that the man is from lowland stock or otherwise has some personal prejudice against the kilt... despite his namesake. We can never know what's really going on inside the man's head. He may just view the lot of us as laughable buffoons despite the articulate missives we offer.

blu, I suspect, like most bureacrats, there's nothing going on in his head. It's a place where a cogent thought would find itself in alien territory.
