I've done quite a bit of walking on the C&O. I've also done a little bit of the AT (about 10 miles in MD). I have found that while I can walk among the best on the level, uphill really kicks my tail. I guess I need to work on that.

I find the volksmarching is a good way to keep track of my progress and to earn little rewards (pins and such).

One day, after I don't have to worry about working for a living, I would like to walk across the US, kilted of course.8-)

I was looking through the deep shadows of my closet the other day and found out how much I've gained in the last several years. I found my old Army uniform that I haven't worn for fifteen years. The jacket was a 44 and I wear a 50 now. And I know I've gained 4-5 inches in my waist. And I was a bit heavy then! Because the increase is gradual, you don't really comprehend how much you've changed until you look at some old clothes like that.

I know, when I cleaned the pants out of closet I found my old uniform pants from the fire academy. 30 waist! I can't believe how much weight I've gained.

No foolin': I saved a pair of shorts that my wife liked me to wear when we first met 18 years ago. In addition to being back in style (having passed through an entire fashion cycle), they demonstrate how woefully underfed I was then

Bryan...much better fed nowadays, you betcha...
