My very first kilt was a tan original Utilkilt - and I just love the cargo pockets.

Just bumbled back onto this thread,
Sorry Ham....but I do mean Utilikilts are unique in the UK....didn't mean to imply "exclusive" - know there are a bunch over there.
And, hey Derek, gotta be about time for your UK to be arriving, I hope. Do let us know how you like it.

Very droll, Robertson. Very droll! Seriously however, I think there are rather more Utilikilts here in the UK than one might expect. I personally know of about eight guys who have them and who do not visit "X Marks...". There were a lot to be seen at Brighton Pride two years ago, and I have seen them on occasion in London. I even saw one in Edinburgh - although, come to think of it, that was my reflection in Jenners' shop window!

Hmmm
A mocker in denim would look just about right. I have a truck for cargo, no need for cargo pockets - ever.
(even though said truck is currently stored unservicable with a blown head gasket)

I have to concur with the love for the Cord-Kilt in tan, but the blue and red are somewhat strange. I make a point to pick kilts in colors and styles that I would have worn pant versions in a previous life, and those two colors would not qualify. Anyhow, I'm loving my chocolate brown workman's and feel that you chose wisely for a first kilt.
As for UKs in the UK, I know that I had some mixed reactions in London, moreso than in the states, Asian tourist taking pictures with me (our accents probably sound about as different as we find asian accents from Laos and Korea) to glares from locals. On the other hand, there was the woman we heard (as we walked by) saying "he does look sexy though, doesn't he?"
I have moved to wearing the UK everyday in rural wheat country when the winds are lower than 20 mph. The UK is an excellent alternative to a kilt that I'm worrying about destroying, so enjoy.
